Langstons’ Dingo Boot Giveaway Look of the Day-Keepin’ it Simple

Jeans (my closet, similar here); Belt (Ariat from Langstons); Boots (Dingo from Langstons); Jacket-Ralph Lauren Denim and Supply; Bag-TOTeM

What a whirlwind week it has been. We’ve been in London for 2 days, Edinburgh for 3, then 4 nights over on Loch Lomond that included day trips around the Cowal Peninsula to Tighnabruich, Dunoon, and Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. The weather has ranged from glorious hints of sun along with fresh snow at the top of Rest and Be Thankful pass (so named because in the 1880s passengers in 2nd and 3rd class had to get out of the coaches and push the 1st class passengers up the hill) to pouring rain and wind. Throughout it all, cold is the norm and bundling up is necessary.

So, with the challenging weather and landscape this outfit has been a variation of my mainstay look for this part of the country (which is thankfully very casual). And these sweet little Dingo boots have been a God send as I’m getting tired of tall boots with jeans on EVERY woman I see  (along with denim shorts and black tights with ballet flats…they are EVERYWHERE) which is always my cue to move on with any new purchases.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have tall boots with me too, but I prefer to wear them with a sweater dress and textured tights. So if you’re wanting to add new boots to your wardrobe, my money is on short boots this year (and an impromptu SuzieSurvey in London tells me THEY are the new direction for boots).

Remember, if you want to WIN A PAIR OF DINGO BOOTS FROM LANGSTONS.COM, scroll down to the previous post and enter using one of the multitude of ways! You still have two more days 🙂 and if you want 15% off your purchases at Langstons until the 21st use the code urbancountry !

I know, I should have gotten back into blogging about a week and a half ago. But coming off an intense few weeks of studying, my brain needed a creative break. That, and I had previously decided I wanted to make some serious changes around here and wasn’t quite sure how I was going to introduce y’all to a new and improved version of UrbanCountryStyle.

Sooooo while it appears I was falling down on this blogging job, I’ve actually been planning a BIG and brave Fall expansion of the site. We’re talking HUGE!

Here’s the PLAN: Starting in September, you’re going to begin to meet the UrbanCountryStyle family. The new campaign “We Are The Salmons”  will feature fashion, food, travel, all the same stuff but with a lot of new faces (women, men, and kids!)… and more interesting shoot locations!

First up will be my beautiful niece BRANDY ELIZABETH! I’m so excited about the changes and the creative options this allows UCS that I can’t wait to share…so subscribe to the blog up there in the right hand corner and you’ll be the first to know when we relaunch. And don’t worry, you’ll still see me on here, but I’m sure by now you’re as ready for a change as I am!

AND, if you want some behind the scenes sneak peeks at what we’re doing when we’re doing it just follow along on Facebook, Instagram (@urbancountrystyle) or Twitter @UrbanCntryStyle .

Oh, I almost forgot…the post pics are a big indication of where I’m personally headed for Fall. Burnt Orange…Boyfriends…heels…cashmere…color…softness…comfort…suziestyle!

That’s my life folks…constant motion so I hope y’all are ready for the ride!

Where the Heck Am I?

BTW…this Designs by Shelagh creation/purchase  was the highlight of my Calgary Stampede

I’m sure Y’all are wondering…where’s Suzie??? Well, at least in my egotistical mind (not really, but kind of) I’ve been thinking Y’all are wondering that…WELL…I’ve been hard at studying for a Chemistry class that I must finish before August 08th. And…that sounds easy…until you realize that up until a couple of days ago I hadn’t done more than one assignment and one lab!!!

So, until I finish this quest…I’m effectively cut off the internet (the Mr. is a MEANIE! lol). But Pssssst….. Instagram still gets little mini posts, so if you really want to know what I’m up to during this trying period… follow along over there…I’m urbancountrystyle .

In the mean time…wish me luck…with less than 10 days to finish…I’m going to need it!

Until then…

Little House on the Prairie?

The “dress” I’m wearing is actually a skirt…a REALLY long skirt. So I decided to make it a dress…my own special “no-sew” version ;). I love the fabric…I feel all “Little House on the Prairie” in it with its little pink flowers on a creamy white background. And F21 denim vest with the “sleeves pulled off” look??? How is that Little House on the Prairie??? I like that it makes me look a little tough when I wear it…(so does that make me Nelly Olsen?) plus it has bling (you can never go wrong with a little bling!). I dressed it all up with my Geoxx (!?!) creamy suede boots which I can only wear if the sun shines (in YVR that’s almost NEVER) and tossed on some Designs by Shelagh turquoise to tame the waistline of the “dress” (since it didn’t have one!). That’s also a great trick for billowy blouses that make me feel more billowy than I’d like BTW…oh, and the fringe purse is an ancient purchase from Nine West (mine’s black…it also came in Turquoise and I DIDN’T BUY IT TOO…just a tad bit of shopping regret on that silly decision!).

Oh…and my felt hat??? (which I just found out you’re not supposed to wear after Easter?!? or only for special occasions) just won me two VIP passes to the Calgary Stampede Chuckwagons in their Cowboy Hat photo contest over on Twitter (THANK YOU SO MUCH @CSChuckwagons !)…so much for following the rules…that just reinforced that anything that starts with something like “you shouldn’t wear this after this date/age” is one to be TESTED! FYI this was the photo that won..

Have a wonderful weekend Y’all! I’ll be cookin’ up a storm as it’s my Dad’s birthday and we have Canada Day goin’ on as well. Look for the food report over on Instagram- urbancountrystyle

SuzieStyle Friday the 13th

I snapped this pic with my iPhone (so forgive the blurry parts) and posted it over on Instagram and  Facebook and everyone seemed to like it so I thought I’d pass it on for you non FBers or IGers (I know there are a few of you left in the world 😉 )

Destroyed Denim-Zara; Tee-Gap (old); Cami-White House Black Market; Kitten Heels-Calvin Klein (old); Turquoise and Silver Feather Necklace-Designs by Shelagh, Turquoise Cross-Mexico

Psssssttttt….I also thought I should mention that a little bird told me that Designs by Shelagh was accepted into the 100th Calgary Stampede Artists Showcase (no easy feat). But if you wanted to collect her pieces before I’m sure she wouldn’t mind! And no, I don’t get paid or free jewels to tell you that…I just think her talent is amazing and that she’s about to be uber-discovered so catch her now before she becomes so big and busy she won’t have time for all us little folk 🙂 .

Happy Friday Y’all!
